Mitchell Marsh Shines with Century in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants
Mitchell Marsh's Stellar Performance
On Thursday, Mitchell Marsh, a key player for the Lucknow Super Giants, showcased his batting prowess in IPL 2025 with an impressive century against the Gujarat Titans. The Australian cricketer scored 117 runs off just 64 balls, hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes. He reached his century in a mere 56 deliveries, becoming the first overseas player to achieve this feat in the current season.
Remarkably, this match marked a historic moment in IPL history, as it was the first time two brothers have both scored centuries in the tournament. In addition to 33-year-old Mitchell, his elder brother, Shaun Marsh, also made his mark in the IPL, having scored a century back in 2008 against the Rajasthan Royals while playing for the Punjab franchise. Shaun played his last IPL match in 2017.
Mitchell's century is particularly significant as it is his first in the IPL. He has now become the fourth player from Lucknow to score a century, and his innings ranks as the third-highest for the team. The record for the highest score for Lucknow is held by Quinton de Kock, who made an unbeaten 140 runs against KKR in 2024. Thanks to Mitchell's outstanding performance, Lucknow set a formidable target of 235/2 against GT.
