Mitchell Marsh Leads Australia in Upcoming T20I Series Against West Indies

Mitchell Marsh Returns as Captain
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is making his comeback to international cricket, having been named captain of a 16-member squad for the T20I series against the West Indies scheduled for next month.
The two teams will compete in a five-match T20I series as part of their preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Notable inclusions in the squad are the explosive batter Mitch Owen and spinner Matt Kuhnemann, along with Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly.
Absence of Key Players
Several prominent players, including Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, and Marcus Stoinis, have not been selected for this series. Additionally, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Xavier Bartlett are also missing from the lineup.
In a statement, Marsh emphasized the importance of the upcoming T20 schedule, which includes matches against South Africa, New Zealand, and five home games against India. He expressed confidence in refining the squad to ensure it is well-prepared for the World Cup in the subcontinent.
Exciting Times Ahead
Marsh noted that there are several players outside the current squad who could still make their way into the team for the upcoming series against India and during the Big Bash League. He highlighted the growing synergy and role development within the squad as they gear up for the World Cup.
Having had a successful IPL season in 2025, where he scored 627 runs for the Lucknow Super Giants, including a century, Marsh's return is highly anticipated. Australia enters this series with impressive momentum, having won 12 out of their last 14 T20I matches.
