Chanu kicked off the competition with an impressive lift of 85 kg in the snatch event, outpacing her competitors, as no other weightlifter managed to lift more than 70 kg. She followed this with a clean and jerk lift of 105 kg, securing the gold medal with a substantial 22 kg lead over silver medalist Ruth Asuquo Nyong. Looking ahead, Mirabai is set to compete in the 2026 Asian Games, where she aims to earn her first medal.
