Historic Victory in Junior Pickleball Championship


Minal Shaik Kalyan and Ashritha Raju clinched the Under 18 Girls Doubles title at the inaugural Junior Pickleball Championship, sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), held at the Dinkers Pickleball Academy in Ahmedabad on June 14. The duo triumphed over Ruvanshi SK and Aashrithaa S with a score of 21-14 in the final, showcasing their dominance throughout the tournament.


Throughout the competition, Minal and Ashritha displayed remarkable skill and teamwork. In the semifinal, they delivered a strong performance, defeating Mumbai's Anushka Chhabria and Naomi Amalsadiwala with a score of 21-12, securing their spot in the final match. Ruvanshi and Aashrithaa reached the championship round by overcoming Diya Mattipati, the U18 Girls Singles champion, and Swaina Kataria in their semifinal.


The final match highlighted Minal and Ashritha's consistency and aggressive play, leading them to victory. In the third-place playoff, Anushka and Naomi claimed the bronze medal by defeating Diya and Swaina.


This Junior Championship is a significant milestone for pickleball in India, marking the first national event for juniors.
