Community Spirit Shines at Milan's Pickleball Tournament


A vibrant pickleball tournament took place in Milan, Tennessee, where sportsmanship met social responsibility. The 2nd annual Mix MLP Pickleball Tournament, organized by the American Legion Post 287 in collaboration with Gibson County and the Hub City Picklers, occurred at the Milan City Courts on Saturday morning. This event saw both male and female players competing in intermediate and advanced categories, welcoming participants from various age groups. Each player contributed an entry fee of $50, which went directly to the fundraising efforts.


According to the organizers, the event saw participation levels similar to last year, with a notable increase in sponsorship support. Bob Howland remarked, “We had about 40 participants last year, and we have maintained that number this year, with additional sponsors helping to boost our fundraising efforts.” The tournament not only emphasized competition but also aimed to enhance community welfare, with the proceeds designated for aiding local veterans and funding scholarships for students, highlighting the event's commitment to making a positive impact beyond just sports.
