Mehidy Hasan Miraz Receives Prestigious ICC Award

New Delhi [India] - Bangladesh's star all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, has been honored as the ICC Men's Player of the Month for April, as announced on the official ICC website.

Miraz triumphed over fellow pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Ben Sears, becoming the third Bangladeshi cricketer to earn this accolade, following in the footsteps of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. This is Miraz's inaugural win of the award.

"Winning the ICC Men's Player of the Month is an extraordinary honor. The ICC Awards represent the pinnacle of recognition for any cricketer, and receiving this through a global vote is incredibly meaningful to me," expressed Mehidy Hasan Miraz upon receiving the award.

He added, "This moment brings back memories of my journey; being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup was a significant boost early in my career, and this award feels equally special."

"I am genuinely thrilled. This recognition will serve as a great motivation for me to continue giving my best and contributing to Bangladesh's success on the international stage. As cricketers, we aspire to make a difference and bring happiness to our supporters. Awards like this from the ICC inspire me to strive harder and maintain consistent performance for my country. I extend my gratitude to my teammates, coaches, and fans—this award is for all of us," Miraz concluded.

The 27-year-old showcased remarkable performance during Bangladesh's series against Zimbabwe, scoring 116 runs across two Tests at an average of 38.66 and taking 15 wickets at an impressive average of 11.86.

In the first Test held in Sylhet, Miraz shone with the ball, achieving consecutive five-wicket hauls with figures of 5/52 in the first innings and 5/50 in the second, despite Zimbabwe clinching a three-wicket victory.

The second Test was particularly memorable for Miraz, who excelled in both batting and bowling. After Zimbabwe was bowled out for a modest score in their first innings, Miraz scored a commendable 104 runs off 162 balls, leading Bangladesh's batting effort. He followed this with another five-wicket haul, taking 5/32 in Zimbabwe's second innings, helping Bangladesh secure victory by an innings and 106 runs in Chattogram, thus leveling the series.
