Meet Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The 14-Year-Old Cricket Sensation Shattering Records!
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes History in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Kolkata: In a remarkable achievement, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set a new record as the youngest player to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during a match against Maharashtra at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Representing Bihar, Suryavanshi delivered an outstanding performance, amassing 108 runs off just 61 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and an equal number of sixes, marking a historic milestone in the tournament.
After struggling with scores of 14, 13, and 5 in previous matches, he finally found his rhythm, reaching his first fifty of the tournament in just 34 balls before achieving the remarkable three-figure score.
This century is Suryavanshi's third in only his 16th professional T20 match, and notably, it is the slowest century he has recorded, taking 58 balls to reach the milestone.
Thanks to Suryavanshi's stellar innings, Bihar set a competitive total of 176/3, while Maharashtra was at 174-7 at the time of this report.
Earlier this year, Suryavanshi made headlines as the youngest player to debut in the IPL at just 14 years and 23 days, playing against the Lucknow Super Giants. Just nine days later, he became the youngest centurion in IPL history with a breathtaking 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans, the fastest by an Indian and second overall, trailing only Chris Gayle.
His record-breaking 143 in the fourth match of the series was the quickest century ever in U19 men's ODIs, making him the youngest player to achieve this feat in the format's history.
The talented southpaw also scored a century against the Australia U19 team in Brisbane during a Youth Test match last month. Most recently, he dazzled fans in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, scoring 144 off just 42 balls for India A against the UAE, hitting 11 fours and 15 sixes.
His astonishing 32-ball century established him as the youngest player to score a century for any national representative side at the senior level, breaking a record that had stood for two decades.
