Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Record-Breaking Performance

Ranchi: The cricket world is buzzing about 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who recently achieved a remarkable feat by scoring a century in just 36 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate league opener for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval Ground on Wednesday.

This incredible century marks the second-fastest by an Indian in List A cricket, following Anmolpreet Singh's 35-ball century from the previous season's Vijay Hazare competition.

Suryavanshi's 36-ball ton is now tied for the fourth-fastest century in List A cricket history globally. He went on to score 150 runs off just 54 balls before being dismissed for 190 runs off 84 deliveries, contributing to Bihar's impressive score of 379/2 in 39 overs.

Earlier this month, he also made headlines by scoring an unbeaten century against Maharashtra in the Elite Group B of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, where he hit 108 runs off 61 balls. This was his first century in T20 domestic cricket and his third overall in the format, making him the youngest player to achieve this milestone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at just 14 years and 250 days.

Suryavanshi also holds the record for the highest score by an Indian in U19 Asia Cup history, having scored 171 runs off 95 balls against the UAE.

In November, he impressed with a century against the Australia U19 team during a Youth Test match in Brisbane. His latest standout performance was in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, where he scored 144 runs off just 42 balls for India A against the UAE, hitting 11 fours and 15 sixes.

His 32-ball century made him the youngest player to score a century for any national representative team at the senior level, breaking a record that stood for two decades.

Last month, Instagram highlighted Vaibhav Suryavanshi's journey on its official page, making him only the second Indian cricketer after Virat Kohli to receive such recognition.
