Akash Ranjan Mund: A Rising Star in Para Badminton


Bhubaneswar: Akash Ranjan Mund, a student pursuing a BA in English at KIIT Deemed to be University, has earned the honor of representing India at the upcoming World Abilitysport Youth Games 2026. This prestigious event is set to take place in Türkiye from June 18 to 21 and is renowned for gathering young athletes with disabilities from over 68 nations.


The Para Badminton segment of the Games is officially recognized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), marking it as a key event in the global para badminton scene. Akash, who comes from Kalahandi district in Odisha, has shown remarkable talent in para badminton, achieving success on both national and international stages.


His accolades include winning a bronze medal at the Uganda Para Badminton International 2025, competing for India in the Indonesia and Peru Para Badminton International tournaments, securing a bronze at the National Youth Para Badminton Championship, and being crowned the Odisha State Para Badminton Champion and state No. 1 for three consecutive years.
