A Remarkable Achievement in Nepal

Bhabanipatana: Durga Charan Mishra, a retired Additional Superintendent of Police from Mandarabagicha Pada, has made Kalahandi district and the entire state proud by securing three gold medals at the SBKF International Games 2026, which took place in Pokhara, Nepal.

Mishra, who competed in the 80-and-above age category, excelled in shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw, bringing home gold in all three events. The two-day international competition saw participation from around 300 veteran athletes hailing from India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

A notable figure in sports, Mishra was not only a talented football player but also a skilled volleyball player during his younger years, having captained Odisha in both sports.

Even after retiring from the police force, he has remained active in athletics, representing India in various international masters competitions and earning numerous accolades. His recent success has been celebrated widely in Kalahandi.
