Meet Aanika Pattnaik: Odisha's Star Wushu Athlete Set for International Glory!

Aanika Pattnaik to Represent India at Batumi Open

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa Wushu Association (OWA) is thrilled to announce that Aanika Pattnaik, the sole female Wushu competitor from Odisha, has earned a spot to represent India at the esteemed Batumi Open International Wushu Championship 2026. This event is set to take place in Batumi, Georgia, from July 30 to August 4, 2026.

In addition to this significant milestone, Pradyumna Behera has been named the coach for Team India at the championship.

The Indian team will feature 22 male and 19 female athletes from various regions, all gearing up to face some of the world's top Wushu talents.

Bikash Chandra Pattnaik, Vice President of the Orissa Wushu Association, remarked, “Aanika Pattnaik has dedicated herself to intense training and preparation for this championship. Her selection is a testament to the rising prominence and potential of Wushu in Odisha. We believe she will excel and bring pride to both Odisha and India on the global stage.”

Sudhansu Shekhar Harichandan, Chairman of the Orissa Wushu Association, congratulated both the athlete and the coach, expressing optimism that their commitment and effort would yield success for the nation.

Samir Mohanty, President of the Odisha Olympic Association, also conveyed his best wishes to Aanika Pattnaik and Pradyumna Behera for a triumphant performance at the championship in Batumi, Georgia.
