Mayank Yadav's Injury Forces LSG to Sign Replacement William O'Rourke

Mayank Yadav's Setback in IPL 2025

Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav showcased impressive speed during IPL 2024, earning a call-up to the national team. However, his IPL 2025 campaign has been marred by fitness issues. After participating in just two matches for LSG this season, he has been sidelined due to a back injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

In response to Mayank's injury, LSG has signed New Zealand's William O'Rourke as his replacement, as announced by the BCCI, with a contract worth INR 3 crore. In the two games he played, Mayank managed to take only two wickets, with a high average of 50 and a run rate of 12.50.

Interestingly, Mayank had already missed a significant portion of the 2025 season due to a recurring back issue and a toe injury. He had only recently returned after receiving medical clearance from the NCA, raising concerns about his long-term fitness. Fortunately for LSG, his absence may not severely impact the team, as their chances of making the playoffs are already slim.

Having signed Mayank for a hefty INR 11 crore, his injury is particularly disappointing for the franchise. It remains uncertain whether LSG will retain him for the next season.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have also made a notable change, bringing in Kyle Jamieson to replace the injured Lockie Ferguson. This addition could significantly boost PBKS's chances as they strive for a playoff spot and aim for the title.
