Rashford Discusses United's Challenges

New Delhi, August 13: Marcus Rashford, a key forward for England, has expressed that the frequent changes in management and inconsistent strategies have hindered Manchester United's chances of winning the Premier League for over a decade.

Despite appointing Ruben Amorim as manager during the previous season, Manchester United could not improve their standing and ended up in 15th place.

This situation marks the club's lowest finish in top-flight football since their relegation in the 1973-74 season.

Amorim faces a significant challenge in reversing the club's fortunes, but he will not be part of the rebuilding process, having been loaned to Barcelona after being removed from Manchester United's squad last December.

Prior to his transfer to Barcelona, Rashford had spent the latter part of the season on loan at Aston Villa. His move to the Spanish giants made him the first English player to join the club since Gary Lineker in 1986.

Rashford elaborated on the underlying reasons for the lack of success experienced by one of the league's historically successful teams over the past 12 years.

“Successful teams have principles that every coach and player must adhere to or enhance. At times, it feels like United has been overly eager to win, leading to a reactive approach in signing players who fit the system,” he stated on The Rest is Football, as reported by a Media Channel.

“When your direction is constantly shifting, winning the league becomes a challenge. While you might secure some cup victories due to having a competent coach and talented players, it’s not by chance.”

“Many overlook this aspect. We have certainly fallen short of our expectations for United. However, if you take a moment to reflect, what can you anticipate? People claim we’ve been in transition for years, but to transition, you must initiate the process. It seems that the actual transition hasn’t even begun,” he added.

Rashford believes that the club's failure to adhere to a consistent plan has obstructed their transition. The ongoing changes and lack of stability have left Manchester United in disarray.

“To initiate a transition, a plan must be established and followed. This is where it becomes complicated. If things aren’t progressing well, fans demand change. However, it’s crucial to be realistic about the current situation,” he remarked.

“With so many different managers, ideas, and strategies aimed at winning, you find yourself in a state of limbo,” he concluded.
