Mannat Brar Leads Indian Contingent at Queen Sirikit Cup

In Miyazaki, Japan, on May 15, Mannat Brar delivered an impressive performance in the second round of the 45th Queen Sirikit Cup, marking the best score among the three Indian participants. Despite this, Zara Anand maintained her position as the highest-ranked Indian after two rounds, according to a statement from the Queen Sirikit Cup organizers.

Mannat, who previously reached the semi-finals of the R&A Girl's Amateur event last year, recorded a score of 2-under 70. Meanwhile, Zara improved her score to 1-under 71, moving from T-12 to T-10. Mannat also made significant progress, climbing from T-25 to T-15 with her total score of 77-70. The third Indian player, Heena Kang, scored 76 in both rounds, placing her at T-28.

As a team, the Indian squad has advanced to fifth place, improving by two spots since the first round.

Korea's Oh Soo-min and Jung Min-seo excelled, propelling their team to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway point of the tournament. Oh, the defending champion and the top-ranked player in the tournament, followed her initial score of 69 with an outstanding five-under-par 67 on the Tom Watson Golf Course at the Phoenix Seagaia Resort.

Jung also capitalized on the favorable scoring conditions, significantly improving her first-round score of 74 by eight strokes, tying with China's Zhou Shiyuan for the best round of the day.

In this competition, the best two scores from each of the 13 three-player teams are counted daily. Korea achieved a remarkable second-round total of 11-under 133, giving them a commanding 36-hole total of 16-under 272, which places them six strokes ahead of Japan, the overnight leaders, as they head into Thursday's penultimate round.
