Manchester, UK - On August 9, Premier League giant Manchester United confirmed the acquisition of Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko from the German club RB Leipzig. The young striker has committed to a contract that extends until June 2030.
In the last two seasons, Sesko has emerged as the leading goal scorer among players under 23 in Europe's top five leagues, netting 21 goals and providing six assists for RB Leipzig in the previous season.
Since making his debut in 2021, he has earned 41 caps and scored 16 goals for Slovenia, making him the youngest player to represent his country, according to Manchester United's official website.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining the club, Sesko stated, “The legacy of Manchester United is incredibly special, but what truly excites me is the future. Our discussions about the project made it clear that the foundation is set for this team to grow and compete for major trophies soon.”
He further added, “From the moment I arrived, I sensed the positive energy and family atmosphere that the club fosters. It’s undoubtedly the ideal place for me to reach my full potential and achieve my goals. I am eager to learn from Ruben [Amorim] and build connections with my teammates to attain the success we all aspire to.”
Jason Wilcox, the director of football, commented on the signing, saying, “Benjamin brings a unique blend of explosive speed and the ability to overpower defenders, marking him as one of the most remarkable young talents in global football. We have closely monitored his career, and our data analysis confirms that he possesses the qualities and character needed to excel at Manchester United.”
He added, “With the guidance of Ruben and our outstanding performance team, Benjamin is entering an environment that will help him realize his world-class potential.
