PSPB Players Claim First Singles Titles

At the Senior National Table Tennis Championships held on Saturday, players from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), Manav Thakkar and Yashaswini Ghorpade, celebrated their first singles titles.


In the men's final, top seed Manav Thakkar showcased his skills with a decisive 4-1 (11-2, 11-4, 6-11, 11-9, 11-3) victory against Jeet Chandra from the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).


Manav dominated the match from the start, winning the first two games effortlessly. Although Jeet managed to take the third game, he struggled to maintain the momentum that had propelled him through the semifinals.


Regaining his focus, Manav closed the match with an 11-3 win in the fifth game, concluding a remarkable title run.


The women's final was a thrilling encounter filled with intensity and dramatic shifts, culminating in a nail-biting finish.


Yashaswini Ghorpade made history by securing the title with a hard-fought 4-3 (11-6, 12-14, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-8) victory over the talented Syndrela Das from PSPB.


Yashaswini started strong, winning the first game 11-6, but the 16-year-old Das quickly proved her mettle by taking the second game 14-12, setting the stage for a back-and-forth battle.


The two players exchanged victories, with Yashaswini's aggressive play earning her the third game, while Syndrela responded by winning the fourth.


Yashaswini regained the lead with a narrow 13-11 win in the fifth game, but Das fought back, dominating the sixth game 11-6 to force a decisive seventh game.


In the final game, Yashaswini's composure shone through as she held her nerve during critical rallies, ultimately winning 11-8 and securing a memorable victory.


This win marks a significant milestone for Yashaswini, representing her first championship achieved through determination and resilience.


Exciting Mixed Doubles Final

Ankur and Suhana Claim Gold


In a thrilling mixed doubles final, Ankur Bhattacharjee from West Bengal and Suhana Saini from Haryana triumphed over the West Bengal duo of Aniket Bose and Sampriti Roy in a gripping five-game match, winning 3-2 (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 13-15, 12-10).


The pair from WB and Haryana started strong, taking the first two games with impressive play. However, Bose and Roy fought back, winning the next two games, including a tense 15-13 in the fourth to push the match to a deciding game.


In the final game, both teams exchanged points under immense pressure, but Ankur and Suhana maintained their composure in the closing moments, securing a narrow 12-10 victory to claim the title.


Recognition for Young Talent

Divyanshi Bhowmick Receives Vishwa Trophy


Divyanshi Bhowmick was honored with the D Vishwa Trophy, awarded to a promising young player for her exceptional performance at the Senior Nationals. She had an impressive run, reaching the quarterfinals and nearly defeating defending champion Diya Chitale in a closely contested match.


Divyanshi previously won the Under-15 singles gold at the Asian Youth Championships and also claimed the Under-19 title at the ITTF Youth World Championships last year.
