Major League Pickleball Announces LT Pro 48 as Official Ball for 2026 Season
LT Pro 48: The New Official Ball of Major League Pickleball
Major League Pickleball (MLP) has officially designated Life Time's LT Pro 48 as the league's official ball, set to debut in the 2026 season. This announcement, made on April 29, signifies a strengthened collaboration between the league and Life Time. The MLP 2026 season will commence with the MLP Dallas event from May 22-25, where the LT Pro 48 will be utilized in all matches.
This decision is particularly significant for a sport that has faced challenges with equipment consistency. The LT Pro 48, which was launched in 2024, has gained popularity among both professional and recreational players. Its recognition as the official ball of the Carvana PPA Tour last year further enhances its credibility.
The design of the LT Pro 48 is a key factor in its success. Created by Life Time's Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bahram Akradi and his team, the ball features a 48-hole, precision-molded design that ensures consistent bounce and durability. The strategically placed holes and chamfered edges aim to mitigate common issues like cracking and unpredictable flight patterns that have troubled players.
MLP's endorsement comes at a time of rapid growth for the league, which has distinguished itself with its coed, team-based format. The involvement of celebrity team owners, including athletes and entertainers, has further increased its visibility and appeal.
Ryan Brister, Vice President of Life Time Racquet Sports, remarked, "Becoming the official ball of Major League Pickleball is another stamp of approval for the durability and consistency of the LT Pro 48. Partnering with MLP broadens the ball's reach and solidifies its status as a reliable standard in professional pickleball, catering to both doubles and singles in the league's unique format."
This partnership builds on a prior relationship, as Life Time has hosted numerous MLP events, providing essential infrastructure and venues that have facilitated the league's growth. MLP Commissioner Samin Odhwani stated, "Life Time has been an outstanding venue partner for various MLP events throughout the league's history, and we are excited to deepen our collaboration by designating the LT Pro 48 as the official ball of MLP."
The timing of this announcement is particularly relevant, coinciding with National Pickleball Month, which highlights the sport's rapid increase in participation. Life Time has significantly contributed to this growth, operating over 800 permanent courts across more than 190 athletic country clubs in North America.
With availability already launched on PickleballCentral.com, the LT Pro 48's new official status not only enhances its market presence but also signifies a broader trend: the evolution of pickleball from a casual pastime to a structured, commercially viable professional sport.
