Exciting Finals at the Maharashtra Open
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 4: In a thrilling conclusion to the Maharashtra Open 2026, Arjun Singh and Aditya Singh triumphed in the Pro Men’s Doubles, overcoming Stavya Bhasin and Ammol in a tightly contested match that went to three sets. Meanwhile, Mihika Yadav and Snehal Patil dominated the Pro Women’s Doubles, securing a decisive victory in their final.
The Maharashtra Pickleball Association (MPA), operating under the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) and led by President Rahool N Kanal, successfully organized the tournament, which saw participation from over 1,000 players over three days, according to a statement.
Reflecting on the tournament's success, MPA President Rahool N Kanal expressed, “Congratulations to all winners and participants of the Maharashtra Open 2026. Witnessing players from ages 8 to 60 showcases our commitment to the future of pickleball in Maharashtra. This is just the start; we aim to establish Maharashtra as the leading hub for pickleball in India, district by district.”
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, President of the Indian Pickleball Association, praised the event, stating, “The Maharashtra Open has been a top-tier tournament both on and off the court. We are pleased with how the Maharashtra Pickleball Association, under Rahool N Kanal's leadership, executed this event. We have seen similar dedication across states, contributing to a robust ecosystem for pickleball.”
Earlier in the competition, Arjun Singh and Naomi Amalsadiwala secured victory in the Pro Mix Doubles, defeating Pearl Amalsadiwala and Stavya Bhasin in another thrilling three-set match. This tournament marks a significant milestone for both the IPA and the newly established MPA, which gained over 750 members in its first month, highlighting the rising popularity of pickleball in the region.
The Maharashtra Pickleball Association is at the forefront of developing pickleball in India, focusing on structural growth, player engagement, and hosting numerous tournaments within the state.
Under Rahool Kanal's guidance, the MPA is set to enhance the number of active players across various districts, aiming to introduce and solidify pickleball in Tier-2 and Tier-3 areas, with the goal of making Maharashtra a powerhouse in the sport.
