Mahajan and Mohanty Triumph in 40+ Men’s Doubles at Surya Pickleball Tournament

Victory at the Surya Pickleball Tournament

IK Mahajan and Dilip Mohanty emerged victorious in the 40+ Men’s Doubles category at the Surya Pickleball Tournament, a PWR 100 event sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), held on March 29 at the Surya Pickleball Academy in Indore. The duo defeated Dr. Mahendra Gupta and Rajeev Pandey with a score of 15-5 in the final match, showcasing a commanding performance throughout the game. Their success was attributed to a blend of consistent play and effective teamwork.

Mahajan and Mohanty started the match with a strong momentum, quickly establishing an early lead that set the pace for the remainder of the game. Their ability to control rallies and capitalize on their opponents' mistakes allowed them to widen the score gap. In contrast, Dr. Gupta and Pandey struggled to gain traction, as the winners maintained relentless pressure and minimized chances for a comeback.

Dilip Mohanty, who also holds the position of Director of Competition and Development at the IPA, utilized his extensive experience during the final. Together with Mahajan, he ensured that their strategy was executed flawlessly, leading to a decisive victory in what turned out to be a one-sided match.

Despite their defeat, Dr. Mahendra Gupta and Rajeev Pandey had a commendable journey through the tournament, demonstrating consistency in their earlier matches, even though they could not clinch the title.

The Surya Pickleball Tournament attracted around 90 participants competing in 18 different categories, with the 40+ Men’s Doubles showcasing seasoned players and competitive encounters, enriching the overall tournament experience.
