Madison College Hosts Successful Pickleball Championships for Student Support
Community Comes Together for Madison College Pickleball Championships
The second edition of the Madison College Pickleball Championships attracted players, fans, and community members for a day filled with competition and fundraising efforts aimed at alleviating financial burdens for students at Madison College. The event took place at Pickleball Kingdom in Sun Prairie and included various activities such as Dream Doubles, an intermediate scratch tournament, and several mini-game stations, blending competitive spirit with community involvement.
Jimmy Cheffen, the Director of Student Engagement and Community Impact at Madison College, emphasized that the tournament transcends mere competition. He stated, "This is our second time doing something like this, and I like it because it's a pickleball party. It's about community, and like I said, it's all for the students. This is helping create pathways for them, and it's important for us to give what they need to achieve all their goals."
The event was designed to assist students by addressing financial hurdles while promoting community engagement through sports. Raj Kotte, Managing Partner at Pickleball Kingdom, commended the turnout from participants and supporters, calling the fundraiser a resounding success. He remarked, "Today we had the Madison Area Technical College doing a fundraiser called Dream Doubles. The fundraiser goes towards students that are in need, and it is very exciting. If you look around, they've got very interactive stations. And just look at all the people that have come out. This is a great success for MATC's fundraiser."
In the aftermath of this successful event, Pickleball Kingdom announced that it will continue to host weekly pickleball activities throughout the summer, offering opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels while fostering the local pickleball community.
