Madhya Pradesh Open: A Thriving Event for Pickleball Enthusiasts
Madhya Pradesh Open Tournament in Indore
The Madhya Pradesh Open, sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) as a PWR 400 event, is currently taking place at the Soft Serve Courts in Indore. This exciting tournament commenced on May 15 and is set to wrap up on May 17. With this event, Indore is solidifying its status as a pickleball hotspot in India, having already hosted three tournaments this year, including the Madhya Pradesh Open. Earlier in March, the city also held the Surya Pickleball PWR 200 and the Surya Pickleball Academy PWR 100.
Rajesh Udawat, a member of the Mayor-in-Council (MIC) and head of the Planning and Information Technology Department of the Indore Municipal Corporation, has announced plans for a new pickleball court aimed at encouraging youth participation in the sport. He expressed his commitment to creating a suitable space for children to engage in pickleball, stating, "I have decided to make a pickleball court in my ward. I will try to make a good place for kids to play. I would like to congratulate all the participants of this tournament," he shared with Pickleball Now.
As the corporator of ward no. 49 - Tilak Nagar, Rajesh emphasized the increasing popularity of pickleball in the city. He remarked, "Pickleball is the most played sport nowadays. Everywhere talk about pickleball. I saw kids playing in the court today. I am very happy to see kids playing at such a fast pace. From Under-10s to seniors are also playing here," he added.
Rajesh also commended the organizers of the Madhya Pradesh Open, saying, "They have organised such a good competition here. They have also given a lot of rewards to the kids. I would like to congratulate all the participants of this tournament."
