Louisville's Downtown Pickleball Street Fest Returns for Third Year
Exciting Return of the Pickleball Street Fest
The Downtown Pickleball Street Fest is making its comeback in Louisville on May 30, marking its third edition. This vibrant event, organized by the Louisville Downtown Partnership, will turn E. Main Street into a lively outdoor pickleball arena. Running from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees can expect celebrity matches, tournaments, and open play, along with a wellness expo, yard games, food trucks, and live DJ performances.
Rebecca Fleischaker expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “The Pickleball Street Fest exemplifies the potential of reimagining our public spaces. By activating our streets with such programming, we demonstrate that Downtown Louisville is a hub for community, competition, and celebration.”
Tournament and Activities
The festival will host a multi-ranking round-robin tournament organized by Goodbounce Pickleball Yard & Wellness, welcoming players of all skill levels. Registrations are open until May 27, with entry fees ranging from $10 to $20 per participant. John Flodder remarked, “Pickleball is everywhere as the fastest-growing sport, and once people step onto the court, they quickly see why.” Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each division, and all participants will receive a branded pickleball paddle grip band.
Community and Entertainment
In addition to the competitive aspect, the festival will feature DJ Ace, a variety of food trucks, and a temporary bar serving local drinks, including offerings from Ten20 Craft Brewery. Angel’s Envy will have a dedicated bar featuring its signature Peach Smash cocktail. Gigi DaDan shared, “We are excited to partner again with Louisville Downtown Partnership for an event that unites our community.” Tournament participants will also enjoy a complimentary cocktail or mocktail and discounts on merchandise at Angel’s Envy’s retail store during the event.
Growing Pickleball Community
Events like the Street Fest showcase the rapid expansion of pickleball and its significance in fostering community engagement. The Louisville Downtown Partnership also oversees the Baird Urban Sports Park, which includes dedicated pickleball courts available for public play throughout the season. The Pickleball Street Fest serves as a unique platform to introduce newcomers to the sport while uniting enthusiasts in an urban environment.
