Messi Achieves Historic Milestone

Lionel Messi has made history by becoming the first player to net goals in seven consecutive World Cup matches, further solidifying his legacy with a total of 19 goals during Argentina's final group stage match against Jordan.

In the 80th minute, Messi executed a free kick after being fouled just outside the penalty area. The expertly placed shot skimmed just above the ground, evading two defenders before finding the left corner of the net.

This goal marked his 72nd career free kick and the 12th for the Argentine national team. With 123 international goals to his name, Messi trails only Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 145, across 202 appearances.

At 39 years old, Messi joined an elite group of players, including France's Just Fontaine and Brazil's Jairzinho, who have previously scored in six consecutive World Cup matches.

Although Messi did not start the match, as Argentina had already secured their position as Group J winners and Jordan was out of contention for the knockout stage, he made his entrance in the 60th minute, replacing Lautaro Martinez, who had scored from the penalty spot earlier in the game.
