Lionel Messi Prepares for FIFA World Cup Opener Against Algeria
Messi's Intense Training Ahead of World Cup
Kansas City [US], June 14: Renowned Argentine football star Lionel Messi engaged in a rigorous training session as he gears up for his team's FIFA World Cup match against Algeria, set for Monday.
In a recent Instagram update, Messi showcased his participation in the team's training, emphasizing his running drills, penalty kicks, and overall readiness for the upcoming match.
Messi appears fully prepared to kick off against Algeria in Argentina's quest to defend their World Cup title. He expressed satisfaction with his fitness and performance following Argentina's last friendly match against Iceland, which they won comfortably.
The match took place at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Alabama, where Messi was substituted in during the 70th minute and successfully converted a penalty, contributing to Argentina's victory.
Post-match, Messi shared his relief regarding his physical state with TyC Sports, stating, “I’m enjoying it from the start. I was eager to play after dealing with some discomfort. I felt great and was excited to play freely. We have a week to ensure everyone is fit for the opening match.”
Previously, Messi missed Argentina's 2-0 friendly win over Honduras on June 6, despite participating in the warm-up, as he was recovering from muscle fatigue in his left hamstring.
The Inter Miami player joined the national team camp after experiencing discomfort during an MLS match against the Philadelphia Union, which occurred before the league's break for the World Cup.
