Recent Updates in Women's Cricket Rankings
The ICC has released the latest women's cricket rankings, which now reflect the results of the ODI series between England and India. A significant change has occurred for India's star player, Smriti Mandhana, who has recently lost her top position in the ODI rankings. Previously ranked number one, she has now slipped to second place with a rating of 728. The top spot is now held by England's captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt.
India secured a 2-1 victory in the ODI series against England, but Mandhana's performance was not up to par. Despite starting well in all three matches, she could only manage a total of 115 runs across her innings. In contrast, Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 62 runs in the first two matches and followed it up with an impressive 98 runs in the third match, totaling 160 runs for the series. This marks the first time Sciver-Brunt has achieved the top ranking, having previously reached number one in July 2023.
Additionally, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has also seen an improvement in her ranking. Although she struggled during the England tour, she made a significant impact in the third ODI, scoring a remarkable 102 runs off 84 balls, which helped her rise ten places to the 11th position. Jemimah Rodrigues also benefited from her performance, moving up two spots to rank 13th.
Irish all-rounder Orla Prendergast has made gains in all three categories. After scoring an unbeaten 67 runs in the second match of the series in Belfast, she jumped 12 places to reach second in the ODI batting rankings. Following her excellent performance against Zimbabwe in the same match, she climbed ten spots to rank 33rd among ODI bowlers.
