Lakshya Sen's Journey Back to Form: Insights and Achievements
Lakshya Sen Discusses His Comeback Journey
Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen shared insights into his recent preparations and the path to regaining his form. He noted that a rigorous tournament schedule, coupled with injury issues, had impacted his training and match readiness in the months following his victory at the Hylo Open 2026. Sen emphasized that balancing his recovery with tournament participation was challenging, yet competing consistently before the Asian Games was instrumental in restoring his confidence and match sharpness.
Adjustments in Training and Overcoming Obstacles
"Our constant travel and tournament participation left little room for experimenting with new training techniques. Nevertheless, I made some adjustments during the tournaments I participated in," Sen explained to reporters. "Managing injuries was quite challenging over the last few months. I explored various training methods, especially regarding my workload. However, in the months leading up to the Asian Games, I managed to prepare effectively for the competitions," he added.
"I was eager to play as many matches as possible. These matches significantly contributed to my match fitness. During events like the World Championships, I felt a lack of match practice. Since then, I have played numerous matches, which has helped me regain my rhythm and improve my fitness levels," he remarked.
Triumph at the Hylo Open 2026
Lakshya secured a convincing 21-17, 21-10 victory in the final, marking his seventh BWF World Tour title and his second win at the Hylo Open. After winning the first game 21-17, he showcased an outstanding performance in the second game, controlling the rallies and capitalizing on his opponent's mistakes to establish a 16-9 lead. Despite efforts from Christie to mount a comeback, Lakshya maintained the pressure. An important moment came when Christie missed a crucial crosscourt smash, allowing Lakshya to inch closer to victory. After successfully challenging a line call, Lakshya earned 10 match points and converted one to clinch the championship with a 21-10 win in the second game.
This victory adds to Lakshya's accolades at the Hylo Open, further elevating his total BWF World Tour titles to seven.
