Mbappe's Call for Concentration

Boston, July 10: Following France's advancement to the semi-finals of the World Cup, Kylian Mbappe emphasized the importance of maintaining focus, warning that the upcoming challenges will be even more formidable.

The captain of France reassured fans about his health, stating that the ankle issue that led to his substitution was minor. He explained that the decision to replace him was tactical, allowing Jean-Philippe Mateta to finish the match.

France secured their spot in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals with a 2-0 win against Morocco in an exciting quarter-final match held at Boston Stadium.

In the second half, both Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele found the net, propelling France into the final four for the third consecutive World Cup.

Mbappe also earned the player of the match accolade, marking his third such recognition in this tournament.

After the match, he stated, "There can be no let-up. There is still a long way to go, and what lies ahead will be even tougher."

He added, "It’s a minor ankle injury, but I’m fine. In that moment, I think Mateta was better suited to continue for the remaining minutes of the match. But I’m fine, don’t worry."

Continuing his impressive performance in the FIFA World Cup, Mbappe scored the opening goal against Morocco, achieving a significant milestone in his career. This goal brought his total to 20 World Cup goals across the 2018, 2022, and 2026 tournaments, just one shy of Lionel Messi's all-time record of 21.

This was also Mbappe's eighth goal in the current edition, placing him alongside Argentina's Messi at the top of the Golden Boot standings.
