Notably, Jharkhand celebrated their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) victory in the 2025-26 season, followed by Vidarbha's inaugural Vijay Hazare Trophy win in the same year. Additionally, Jammu & Kashmir achieved a historic milestone by claiming their first Ranji Trophy title last month.

In an exclusive conversation, Kumar Kushagra, who was instrumental in Jharkhand's SMAT triumph, remarked on the notable improvement in domestic cricket. Kumar Kushagra, alongside captain Ishan Kishan, played a pivotal role in Jharkhand's historic SMAT victory, finishing as the tournament's third-highest run-scorer. Over 10 matches, he amassed 422 runs, boasting an impressive average of 60.28 and a strike rate of 161.68. In the final against Haryana, he scored a remarkable 81 runs off just 38 balls, helping his team set a formidable total of 262/3 in 20 overs. Jharkhand ultimately secured the championship with a 69-run victory.
