Kuldeep Yadav Gains Insights from Ravindra Jadeja Ahead of England Test Series

Kuldeep Yadav's Preparations for England Test Series
As India prepares for a five-match Test series in England, spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been dedicating significant time to learn from fellow player Ravindra Jadeja, both on and off the pitch. Kuldeep expressed that he is gaining valuable insights from Jadeja to enhance his performance.
Having participated in only one Test match in England previously, which took place at Lord's in 2018 where he conceded 44 runs in nine overs without claiming a wicket, Kuldeep has since evolved into a more formidable bowler. Currently, he boasts 56 wickets from 13 Tests, achieving an impressive average of 22.16 and a strike rate of 37.3, marking the best record for any spinner in Test history with a minimum of 50 wickets.
Kuldeep's Experience Playing Alongside Jadeja
Jadeja is anticipated to be the primary spinner for India during this tour due to his versatile skills. However, if the conditions permit, Kuldeep may also have the opportunity to play. He was instrumental in India's 4-1 Test series victory over England at home earlier this year, securing 19 wickets across four matches with an average of 20.15.
"It is a tremendous honor for me to play alongside Jadeja," Kuldeep remarked, as reported by a sports news outlet.
"Jadeja and (Ravichandran) Ashwin have been exceptional performers over the years. They provided me with immense support when I debuted in India. Currently, we frequently discuss strategies for bowling against specific batters, especially considering the current form of the England batsmen," he added.
"I spend considerable time with him, not just during matches but also outside of them. This has significantly aided my understanding of tactics and field placements, and he has shared valuable tips with me," he noted.
Kuldeep's New Seating Arrangement During Team Travel
Kuldeep also shared that during team travels, he now occupies the seat next to Jadeja on the bus, a spot that was previously held by Rohit Sharma, who has since retired from Test cricket. He chuckled about this change and expressed his enthusiasm for learning from Jadeja's experience.
"I can never replace Rohit bhai," he stated, as quoted by a sports news outlet.
"It's simply that I am spending a lot of time with Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) bhai. This is crucial for me as a spinner, especially since Ash bhai (Ashwin, who has also retired) is not around. I've learned a great deal from Ash bhai, and now that he is absent, I aim to learn from any senior player available," Kuldeep concluded.
