Wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has officially declared his retirement from international cricket at the age of 32, sharing the news via social media on June 4. His last appearance for India was over two years ago during a Test match against England in February 2024, held in Visakhapatnam. In his heartfelt message, Bharat expressed gratitude towards his family, the Andhra Cricket Association, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He acknowledged the hard work of groundsmen and the quality of the playing fields.
"With immense pride and gratitude, I announce my retirement from international cricket. Representing my country has been the greatest honor of my life. This journey has required resilience and strength, but the privilege of playing for India in Tests has made every moment worthwhile. My family has shared this dream for over two decades, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my sister, mom, and dad for their unwavering support and love," Bharat wrote on Instagram.
He continued, "I am thankful to the BCCI and all the coaches and managers who supported me throughout my career, creating an environment that allowed me to excel at the highest level. My appreciation also goes to the Andhra Cricket Association, VDCA, and all office bearers for their encouragement since my childhood. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the groundsmen who worked tirelessly to provide the best pitches and conditions for me. To my teammates, thank you for the unforgettable moments and achievements that made my career possible. Without you, I could not have realized my dream of playing this sport for so many years."

In his farewell message, Bharat expressed special thanks to cricket icons Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rahul Dravid. He played under Kohli's leadership at RCB and made his Test debut under Rohit. Dravid served as the head coach during Bharat's tenure with the Indian team and also coached him at India-A.
"A big thank you to my IPL debut captain Virat Kohli for giving me the chance to showcase my skills. I am also grateful to Rohit Sharma, under whom I made my Test debut, a moment that is priceless. To my coach Rahul Dravid, your guidance from India A to the national team is something I will never forget. Your support has been instrumental in my journey as an Indian Test cricketer," Bharat stated.
