Kris Srikkanth, a former opener for India, has expressed strong support for the rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, suggesting that the 15-year-old has the potential to become a significant player in international cricket. Srikkanth believes that Sooryavanshi can thrive in all three formats of the game and is destined to make a substantial impact.
At just 15 years and 157 days old, Sooryavanshi recently made history by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the Duleep Trophy, breaking a record that stood for 57 years. After a quiet performance in the quarterfinal against North East Zone, he rebounded impressively in the semifinal against Central Zone, scoring 92 runs off 81 balls in the first innings and contributing 40 runs in the final innings, leading East Zone to a four-wicket victory and a spot in the finals.

In a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth lauded Sooryavanshi's talent, describing him as a potential cricketing superstar who could greatly benefit the sport if given the right guidance. Srikkanth is confident that Sooryavanshi can succeed at the highest levels, praising his fearless batting style against bowlers in red-ball cricket. He remarked, "He played remarkably well. How can anyone doubt his capability to play at higher levels? He can compete at any level and is poised to dominate world cricket across all formats. He is effortlessly hitting sixes against medium pacers in red-ball cricket, showcasing his skill against bowlers."
A Year of Records for Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi's impressive year continued as he scored 151 runs in three matches against Zimbabwe, earning him the Player of the Series award while helping India achieve a 3-0 series victory. Earlier, he made headlines by becoming the youngest Indian to debut in an international T20I match against England.
His debut followed a stellar IPL 2026 season with the Rajasthan Royals, where he accumulated 776 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 237.30, including one century and five half-centuries.
