The Kolkata Open 2026 is gearing up to host an exciting pickleball tournament from April 30 to May 3 at the Sportsplex in Kolkata. This event is expected to draw a remarkable turnout of 490 participants from 18 different states, highlighting the sport's rapid expansion in India. The tournament will feature nine divisions across 32 categories, including open, age-group, and advanced competitions.
Organizers have reported that the beginner and intermediate categories have already reached full capacity, with over 200 entries. The Open division is anticipated to showcase the most intense matches. In the men's singles Open category, notable players such as Aman Patel, Tejas Gulati, Zhaputso Khate, and Raaquib Merchant are expected to shine, with a potential semi-final showdown between Patel and Gulati.
On the women's side, the singles draw includes Khushi Desai, Danielle Jones, and Shreya Chakraborty, with Desai and Chakraborty likely to face off in the finals. The men's doubles will feature strong teams like Yuvraj Ruia paired with Aman Patel, and Ronav Motiani with Divyanshu Kataria. In women's doubles, the leading pairs include Khushi Desai with Agnimitra Bhavatosh Bhattacharya, and Danielle Jones with Shreya Chakraborty.
The mixed doubles category is also set for thrilling matches, featuring combinations like Ruia and Agnimitra Bhavatosh, as well as Aman Patel with Khushi Desai. Age-group categories will add more excitement, with Rahul Belwal and Karanvir Marwah competing in the 30+ men's singles, while Vinay Sethia stands out in the 40+ category. Jayesh Ashplya is a key contender in the 50+ division.
Emerging talents will be on display in the Under-18 category, with players like Nikunj Kedia, Harnek Singh, and Eeshan Chaudhuri vying for victory. The Advanced division will feature Ashray Bhasin, Raghav Todi, and Aditya Khanna in men's singles, alongside Tanisha Roy and Manaswinee Hazarika in the women's draw.
