Indian badminton player Kiran George faced elimination in the men's singles pre-quarterfinals after a challenging match against Hong Kong's Jason Gunawan. Despite a valiant effort, George lost with scores of 18-21, 21-16, and 16-21, with the match lasting 70 minutes.
In another match, India's men's doubles team of Hariharan Amsakarunan and M.R. Arjun also exited the tournament, falling to the duo of Chen Cheng Kuan and Lin Bing-Wei from Chinese Taipei with a score of 17-21, 11-21 in just 32 minutes.
Tharun Mannepalli Moves Forward
Young talent Tharun Mannepalli, currently ranked 43rd globally, progressed to the second round after his opponent, Kenta Nishimoto, retired during their match. At the time of retirement, Mannepalli was leading 16-21, 21-16, and 7-2 in the deciding game due to Nishimoto's shoulder injury.
