Highlights from Khelo India Beach Games 2026

The Khelo India Beach Games 2026, taking place at Ghoghla Beach in Daman and Diu, has seen remarkable performances from various states. Prasanna Bendre from Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu secured a gold medal in Beach Pencak Silat, while Tamil Nadu excelled in Beach Volleyball, earning four medals, including a gold and silver, on January 8.

This event, organized by the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, is being conducted under the guidance of the Sports Authority of India and national sports federations. The competition features over 1,100 athletes competing in eight sports, including volleyball, soccer, and kabaddi, with 32 gold medals available.

Bendre, who previously won silver in Tunggel, triumphed in the men's Tanding Class B 50-55kg category, defeating Manipur's Yaikhom Rohit Meitei with a score of 15-0, contributing to the host's medal count of two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.

Tamil Nadu currently leads the medal standings, boasting two golds, two silvers, and three bronzes, while the hosts are in second place. In the women's Beach Volleyball final, the duo of Deepika and Pavithra claimed gold by defeating Pondicherry's Revathi and Swetha 2-0, with Swathi and Dharshini securing bronze.

In Beach Sepaktakraw, Haryana's women and Delhi's men eliminated Bihar from gold contention with contrasting victories. Haryana women rallied to win 2-1 after losing the first regu, while Delhi men achieved a straight 2-0 victory.

Haryana's teams are also set to compete in the finals of Beach Kabaddi, having reached the finals in both men's and women's categories. The women's team defeated Uttar Pradesh 38-32, while the men narrowly won against Maharashtra 33-31. Both teams will face Rajasthan in the finals.

In Beach Soccer, defending champions Odisha showcased their strength with a 7-0 victory over Himachal Pradesh, while Gujarat secured a 6-3 win against Arunachal Pradesh in the other semi-final.
