Khalin Joshi Triumphs at Andhra Open Golf Championship
Khalin Joshi Secures Victory
Khalin Joshi clinched his seventh professional title by shooting a two-under 69 at the Andhra Open Golf Championship held at the East Point Golf Club in Visakhapatnam. Akshay Sharma from Chandigarh took the second position, while local players Ajeetesh Sandhu and Angad Cheema finished in fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Sharma, who had rounds of 70, 70, 74, and a remarkable six-under 65 in the final round, made a significant leap from 13th place to secure the runner-up position, finishing four strokes behind Joshi. Sandhu, who recently led the Rajasthan Regals to victory in the inaugural DP World PGTI’s ‘72 The League’, ended the tournament in fifth place with a total score of three-under 281.
Joshi, a 33-year-old golfer based in Bengaluru, achieved victory with a total score of nine-under 275, winning by a comfortable four-shot margin. He started the final round with a three-shot lead at seven-under and concluded with a two-under 69, which included five birdies and three bogeys. This win marks his first title in over 44 months, with his last victory occurring in Coimbatore in August 2022.
During his final round, Joshi faced an early bogey on the third hole but quickly bounced back with a birdie on the fourth, thanks to an accurate approach shot from 80 yards that landed 10 feet from the hole. He added another birdie on the eighth hole and executed a crucial up-and-down on the 12th hole to maintain his lead.
