Kerala Blasters FC Fans React to RCB's IPL Victory Amid Trophy Drought

Bengaluru: RCB's Triumph Sparks Debate Among Kerala Blasters Fans
The recent IPL victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru has ignited discussions among the supporters of Kerala Blasters FC, who are still in pursuit of their first title after ten years. A social media interaction escalated when the club's CEO, Abhik Chatterjee, responded to a derogatory comment with a warning of legal action.
The original post stated, "Even RCB won a title you (censored)," prompting Abhik to reply, "I will report your account, and you will face consequences from the cyber cell. Mind your language. We are not your servants."
Another fan expressed their frustration, saying, "Now you understand what we endure when we lose to teams like MCFC and BFC. Fans mock and abuse us. Please help us win a trophy; I believe in you." Abhik responded, emphasizing that such abusive behavior is unacceptable, stating, "There is something seriously wrong when we normalize toxicity. Please express your frustrations without resorting to abuse."

Fans Call for Respect and Accountability
As the conversation continued, some fans criticized the CEO for blocking them and deactivating his account for voicing their opinions, while others urged for more respectful interactions. One user remarked, "Some should attend away games at BFC and MBSG before filing cases against everyone at Cybercrime."
Another comment read, "Winning a trophy is what we all desire, but it shouldn't come at the expense of degrading those working towards it and bringing shame to our community. Passion should not compromise our core human values. We can do better."
A fan noted, "Repeated mistakes will undoubtedly lead to anger. However, expressing concerns should be done in a constructive manner to maintain a healthy environment. Arguments and criticism are acceptable as long as they are constructive."

Reflections on Title Droughts
One supporter highlighted that 2025 has been a remarkable year for teams overcoming title droughts, mentioning, "Bologna won a trophy, Newcastle ended a 56-year wait, Spurs secured a European title, PSG clinched the UCL, and RCB finally won the IPL. The only team still without a trophy is Kerala Blasters."

Another fan remarked, "Kerala Blasters need to be a responsible club and fan base first. Look at how the club is managed and how the fans behave."
