Jerez, June 2: Indian motorcycle racer Kavin Quintal, representing EasyRace Team, kicked off his 2026 Copa de España de Velocidad season with remarkable success, achieving two podium finishes at the Circuito de Jerez during the championship's opening round.
The 21-year-old rider from Chennai qualified impressively on the front row and showcased his skills in two thrilling races on his Superbike. He secured a second-place finish in Race 1 and followed it up with a third-place finish in Race 2, establishing himself as a strong contender in the competitive Superbike 1000cc category.
Kavin's weekend was highlighted by a second-fastest qualifying time of 1:45.549. In Race 1, he finished just 0.605 seconds behind the winner, Juan Maria Zarza, before clinching another podium with a third-place finish in Race 2.
These podium finishes mark a promising start for Kavin after joining EasyRace Team, one of Spain's premier motorcycle racing teams.
He became part of the Spanish squad in April after impressing them during a wildcard entry in 2025, where he finished an impressive fourth in his superbike debut.
For the 2026 season, Kavin is signed for a full campaign with EasyRace Team, led by Eduardo Salvador Vera. This collaboration provides him with top-notch technical support and access to proven BMW machinery as he competes in one of Europe's most challenging championships.
“I am extremely happy with how the season has started. Joining EasyRace Team earlier this year for a full season was a major step in my career, and everyone in the team has worked incredibly hard to help me settle in quickly. To come away from the opening round with two podium finishes is very encouraging, but this is only the beginning. The championship is long and highly competitive, and my focus is on continuing to learn, improve, and consistently fight at the front while proudly representing India on the international stage,” Kavin expressed.
As one of India's most promising motorcycle racing talents, Kavin is the sole Indian competitor in this year's Copa de España de Velocidad.
He has also gained recognition as one of the first Indians to participate in the Supersport 300 World Championship during a WorldSBK weekend, highlighting his growing influence in the international racing arena.
With two commendable podium finishes already achieved, Kavin and EasyRace Team are poised for the upcoming rounds of the 2026 championship.
