Chandhok's Insights on Hamilton's New Journey

Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 26: Former Formula 1 racer Karun Chandhok has expressed his views on Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, as he gears up for the 2026 Formula 1 season with Scuderia Ferrari.

Hamilton's transition to Ferrari has been a major topic of discussion leading into the 2025 season. The British driver faced a tough year after leaving the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, where he spent 12 seasons.

In a conversation with a news outlet, Chandhok noted that Hamilton appears to be more content and at ease with the new regulations in Formula 1. He emphasized that the current rules are still in the testing phase, and it's premature to draw any definitive conclusions.

Chandhok remarked, "Lewis had a challenging season last year. This year, the car looks improved. He seems happier and more comfortable with the new rules. However, we are still in the testing phase, and we have limited information. Let's see how the season unfolds."

Hamilton's move to Ferrari is considered one of the most significant transfers in the history of Formula 1. For Indian fans, many of whom have historically supported Ferrari, having a seven-time world champion in their team is likely to enhance emotional engagement and could increase viewership and brand interaction.

Chandhok pointed out that the level of competitiveness will ultimately shape the season's impact. He anticipates a fiercely contested championship, with several leading teams vying for victories.

"Most importantly, we hope for an exciting season with various teams competing. McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull Racing are all expected to be strong contenders. It should be an enjoyable year," he added.

In the 2025 season, McLaren's Lando Norris achieved his first Formula 1 World Championship, finishing ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Throughout 24 races, Norris, Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri pushed each other to their limits, creating a memorable season. Norris secured 18 podium finishes and consistently placed in the top five, ultimately winning the title.

McLaren also celebrated their 10th Constructors' Championship in the 2025 season, marking their second consecutive title by winning six out of 24 Grand Prix, including a crucial victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, where Norris and Piastri led the team to success.

The 2026 Formula 1 season is scheduled to kick off with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8, following pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 11 to 20.
