Kamaljeet and Suruchi Advance to Finals
The duo of Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh has successfully made their way to the finals of the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games held on Friday. They topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of 587-29x, just four points shy of the world record currently held by China since July 2026.
Strong Performance Leads to Final Matchup
According to reports, the Indian pair delivered three outstanding series with scores of 196, 195, and 196, securing their spot in the finals. In the final round, they will compete against teams from Iran (584-17x), South Korea (582-23x), and Indonesia (580-30x).
Mixed Results for Other Indian Shooters
This achievement follows a series of disappointing performances from other Indian pistol shooters.
Men's Team and Individual Events
In the men's 10m air pistol team event, the trio of Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Aakash Bhardwaj finished in fourth place with a total score of 1727-53x. The top three positions were claimed by China (1743-70x), Indonesia (1743-57x), and Japan (1730-54x).
Kamaljeet completed his 60 shots with a score of 580-16x, placing him ninth overall. Aakash followed closely in eleventh place with a score of 579-20x. Only the top eight shooters qualify for the individual finals, while Kedarling Uchaganve struggled, finishing 35th with a score of 568.
Disappointment in Women's Events
India's double Olympic medalist, Manu Bhaker, faced disappointment as she finished fifth in the women's 10m air pistol individual final on Wednesday, scoring 181.1 points before being eliminated after her 18th shot. Bhaker, who qualified in third place with a score of 579-20x, was knocked out after scoring 9.6 on her 18th shot. She had a strong finish after a slow start in qualification, where she began with a score of 95 but improved with series of 96, 96, and 98.
Additionally, the women's 10m air pistol team narrowly missed out on a podium finish, ending up in fourth place by just two inner-10 shots. Esha Singh qualified in 16th place with 572 points, while Suruchi Singh finished 26th with a score of 568.
