Rabada's Perspective on Stardom

Despite being a key player in South Africa's recent triumph over Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord's, Kagiso Rabada does not consider himself a star. His impressive statistics, however, tell a different story.

The WTC final unfolded over 10 sessions, with South Africa taking an early lead by dismissing Australia for 212 runs. However, they struggled in their first innings, managing only 138 runs.

South Africa's Resilience

Even after a challenging start, South Africa maintained their composure, putting Australia under pressure in their second innings, reducing them to 73 for 7 at one point. A late rally from Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc, however, pushed Australia's total to 282.

Coach Praises Rabada's Performance

On a pitch that became easier to bat on, Aiden Markram's remarkable 136 runs led South Africa to a five-wicket victory, marking their first ICC title since 1982. The head coach of South Africa, Conrad, highlighted Rabada's crucial bowling performance, stating, "That's why he's the superstar. He knew we had one chance at it."

Rabada's Commitment to the Team

Rabada, who led the pace attack with impressive match figures of 9 for 110, ranks fourth among South Africa's all-time wicket-takers and boasts the best strike rate for bowlers with over 200 wickets in Test cricket. Yet, he remains grounded, stating, "I don't see myself as a star. I see myself as someone who's willing to give my blood for this team and continue working hard and improving."

He emphasized the importance of hard work, especially during challenging spells, and expressed his commitment to staying calm and focused during matches.
