Rabada's Humble Perspective After WTC Triumph

London [UK], June 17: Kagiso Rabada, the leading fast bowler for South Africa, remains modest despite his impressive statistics following the team's landmark win in the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's last week.

The final spanned 10 sessions, with South Africa taking an early lead by dismissing Australia for just 212 runs. However, the Proteas struggled in their first innings, managing only 138 runs.

Despite this setback, South Africa maintained their composure, putting Australia under pressure in their second innings, reducing them to 73/7 at one point. A late rally from Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc pushed Australia's total to 282. Yet, Aiden Markram's remarkable 136 runs guided South Africa to a five-wicket victory, marking their first ICC title since 1982.

South Africa's head coach, Conrad, praised the team's bowling performance, stating, "That’s where we turned it around. We could have easily lost focus, but KG (Rabada) ensured we seized our opportunity." Rabada led the bowling attack with impressive match figures of 9/110, ranking fourth on South Africa's all-time wicket-takers list and boasting the best strike rate among bowlers with over 200 wickets in Test cricket.

Despite his accolades, Rabada remains grounded, stating, "I don’t see myself as a star. I’m just someone dedicated to giving my all for this team and striving for improvement. I take pride in playing for the badge." He emphasized the importance of hard work, especially during challenging spells, and noted, "It’s about staying calm and focusing on what lies ahead, regardless of the situation."
