Rabada's Stellar Performance

In a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match, Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Kagiso Rabada expressed his contentment after playing a pivotal role in the team's convincing eight-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday.

Rabada achieved impressive bowling statistics of 3 wickets for 25 runs in four overs, earning him the Player of the Match accolade. His performance was instrumental in limiting CSK to a modest score of 158 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, as he took down key players including Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel, and Kartik Sharma.

Rabada Reflects on the Match

During the post-match presentation, Rabada shared his thoughts, admitting that he was not entirely satisfied with his initial performance but was glad to have contributed to the team's success and secured vital points. "I didn't feel I started pretty well. That's how cricket goes. I am glad to play a part to take the team across the line. We needed the two points," he remarked.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a competitive mindset, stating that one should never take success for granted and should always strive for improvement. Rabada acknowledged that while the team has been successful in taking wickets, they still need to focus on limiting runs. "It's about not taking anything for granted. Sticking with your process and always looking to improve. The day you stop looking to improve is the day you retire. We've been taking a lot of wickets, but we need to find ways to contain runs too. It's been a lovely journey so far," he added.

Gujarat Titans Chase Down Target

In the match, GT successfully chased down the target of 159 runs with 20 balls remaining. Sai Sudharsan was the standout performer, scoring 87 runs off 46 balls, while Shubman Gill contributed a solid 33 runs before being dismissed. Jos Buttler also played a crucial role in the latter stages, scoring 39 runs, which helped GT secure their fourth win of the season and move up to fifth place in the points table.

Gill Praises Team Effort

GT captain Shubman Gill expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, particularly given the challenging conditions in that region of India. He noted that the Gujarat Titans showcased a strong all-around effort, although he felt the last few overs with the ball could have been improved. Gill praised Sai Sudharsan for his outstanding form and ability to spend time at the crease, stating, "Very happy. To get a win like that in this part of India, I am very happy. Apart from the last four or five overs, it was a complete performance. If I have to be critical, finishing an innings has been a problem. Pretty good effort from us. [On Sai Sudharsan] He is batting brilliantly. It [form] was always with him. All about spending the time in the crease."
