Sonipat (Haryana) - February 5: The final day of the Kabaddi Champions League league stage delivered thrilling action with three intense matches, culminating in the semi-final lineup. The Panipat Panthers, Hisar Heroes, Bhiwani Bulls, and Rohtak Royals secured their spots for the knockout rounds, as reported.
In the first match, the Gurugram Gurus shocked the Hisar Heroes with a decisive 41-28 victory. The Heroes faced a challenging start, with Gurugram's raiders, Mandeep Kumar and Vikas Kandola, dominating the early phases and establishing a significant lead.
Hisar attempted a comeback in the second half, spearheaded by Ashu Malik, who showcased exceptional raiding skills and earned the title of Raider of the Match. However, Gurugram's ability to maintain composure in critical moments proved crucial, with Sandeep Dhull earning Defender of the Match for his impressive performance.
Post-match, Mandeep Kumar expressed, “We anticipated a tough challenge from Hisar, but our team's belief and timely raids made the difference. Concluding the league stage with such a performance boosts our confidence immensely.”
In Match 27, the Panipat Panthers delivered a must-win performance against the Karnal Kings, triumphing 48-37 in a high-scoring affair. Meetu Sharma was a standout player, achieving multiple super raids and earning Raider of the Match honors. Despite Karnal's defensive efforts led by Harsh, Panipat maintained their momentum throughout the match.
The league stage wrapped up dramatically with Match 28, where the Bhiwani Bulls showcased their dominance by defeating the Faridabad Fighters 84-45, marking the highest score of the league. Devank Dalal set the pace with a raid point within the first 20 seconds, quickly achieving a Super 10 and consistently breaking through the Fighters' defense to claim Raider of the Match. Hitesh also shone with a High-5, earning Defender of the Match as the Bulls executed multiple all-outs, becoming the only team to surpass 60 points three times in the league.
Devank Dalal stated, “We aimed to make a strong statement on the last league day, and the entire team delivered. This victory and our qualification are significant, but the real challenge begins now in the semi-finals.”
