India's Dominance at the Taiwan Athletics Open

New Delhi [India], June 7: Jyothi Yarraji, the reigning Asian champion and Olympian, showcased her exceptional talent by winning the women's 100m hurdles at the Taiwan Athletics Open 2025 held in Chinese Taipei. This victory contributed to India's impressive tally of six gold medals on the event's opening day.

Jyothi completed the race in 12.99 seconds, overcoming a slow start that initially placed her in second position. However, she made a remarkable comeback in the final 20 meters, securing her victory with a strong finish.

In the heats, she recorded a time of 13.18 seconds, which qualified her for the final. Notably, she was the only competitor to finish the final with a time under 13 seconds, as reported by Olympics.com.

Following her were Japan's Asuka Terada and Chisato Kiyoyama, who finished second and third with times of 13.04 seconds and 13.10 seconds, respectively. Jyothi also holds the national record for the women's 100m hurdles, having set it at 12.78 seconds during the World University Games two years ago.

Tejas Shirse, the national record holder in the men's 110m hurdles, also secured gold with a season-best time of 13.52 seconds. He was followed by Yuan-Kai Hsieh and Chen Kuei-ru from Chinese Taipei, who took silver and bronze with times of 13.72 seconds and 13.75 seconds, respectively.

India continued its winning streak by clinching gold in both the men's and women's 100m relays. Despite a few hiccups during the baton exchange, the women's team, consisting of Sudheeksha Vadluri, Abinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS, and Nithya Gandhe, finished with a meet record time of 44.07 seconds.

Sudheeksha V was the only new member of the relay team that had previously won the Asian title last week, replacing Srabani Nanda.

Vietnam secured the second position, while Asia Biomedical, a club team, finished third with times of 44.38 seconds and 44.53 seconds, respectively.

The men's 100m relay saw Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Manikanta Hoblidhar, and Amlan Borgohain take gold with a time of 38.75 seconds. Asia Biomedical finished second at 39.11 seconds, and Taoyuan City took third place with a time of 39.75 seconds.
