Buttler Surpasses Kohli in T20I Run-Scoring Charts

Jos Buttler, the prominent wicketkeeper-batter from England, has made headlines by overtaking Virat Kohli to become the third-highest run scorer in T20 internationals. This milestone was achieved during the fifth T20 match against India at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. Buttler opened the innings and delivered an impressive performance, scoring 131 runs off just 64 balls, which included 12 fours and eight sixes, bringing his total career runs to 4,212.

In comparison, Virat Kohli accumulated 4,188 runs in 125 T20Is for India from 2010 to 2024 before his retirement. Notably, Buttler took over 35 innings more than Kohli to reach this achievement, doing so in his 160th T20I match. Leading the all-time T20I run charts is Pakistan's Babar Azam, who has scored 4,596 runs in 145 matches. Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma follows in second place with 4,231 runs in 159 T20Is.

England Dominate with the Bat

In the match itself, Buttler and Harry Brook showcased an extraordinary batting performance, helping England set a formidable total of 257/3 in their 20 overs. The English team exhibited a batting masterclass, and despite India making an early breakthrough by dismissing Phil Salt, they quickly lost control of the game as Buttler and Brook took charge.

The duo formed a remarkable partnership, aggressively attacking the Indian bowlers and shifting the momentum firmly in England's favor.

Indian Bowlers Struggle

The Indian bowlers faced significant challenges during the match in Southampton. Arshdeep Singh recorded figures of 0/33 in 4 overs, while Prasidh Krishna managed 1/38 in 4 overs, being the only bowlers to maintain an economy rate under 10 runs per over.
