Jon Lewis Resigns from UP Warriorz Coaching Role
Jon Lewis has officially resigned from his position as head coach of the UP Warriorz, concluding a three-year tenure with the team. This announcement was made by the Warriorz via a social media post on Friday, June 27.
"From day one, you believed in us. Through the highs, the learnings, and everything in between. Thank you, Coach Jon Lewis, for leading with heart, calm, and belief. You’ll always be a part of the Warriorz Family," the UP Warriorz Instagram post read.

Lewis joined the UP Warriorz during the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) in 2023, leading the team to the playoffs. However, they were eliminated by the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator round. In the subsequent seasons of 2024 and 2025, the team finished fourth in 2024 with three wins out of eight matches and ended up at the bottom of the table in 2025, maintaining the same win-loss record.
Despite having a talented roster, the team's performance was hampered by injuries and inconsistent play. Notably, captain Alyssa Healy missed the entire 2025 season due to injury, with Deepti Sharma stepping in as the acting captain.
In addition to his role with the Warriorz, Lewis also served as the head coach for the England Women's national team, a position he took on in November 2022. Following a disappointing 16-0 loss to Australia in the Women's Ashes and an early exit in the 2024 T20 World Cup, he resigned from the England role in March 2025.
During his time with the UP Warriorz, the team set a WPL record for the highest team score (225/5 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru), thanks to Georgia Voll's remarkable unbeaten 99. With Lewis's departure, the Warriorz will now be on the lookout for a new head coach ahead of the WPL 2026 season.
