Jitesh Sharma Makes Captaincy Debut for RCB Amidst IPL Surprises

Exciting Developments in IPL

As the IPL season reaches its critical phase, fans are in for unexpected twists. Tonight, Jitesh Sharma took the lead for RCB during the coin toss against SRH, alongside opposing captain Pat Cummins at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

This decision raised eyebrows among RCB supporters, especially since regular captain Rajat Patidar was declared fit to play. However, the home team opted for a change, allowing Jitesh to debut as captain, a role he was initially set to assume weeks ago. Previously, he had captained PBKS against SRH in 2024, but that match did not end in his favor.

Rajat Patidar's Status

RCB fans can breathe easy as Rajat Patidar is not sidelined entirely. Although he did not participate in the coin toss, Jitesh confirmed that Patidar will be utilized as an impact player during the match. This decision is a precautionary measure by the RCB management, given that they have already secured a playoff spot. Patidar recently recovered from a finger injury sustained during a match against CSK on May 3.

While he won't be leading the team on the field, Patidar will still contribute as an impact batter in his usual batting position for the game against SRH.

Currently, RCB holds the second position on the points table with 17 points from 12 matches, aiming for a top-2 finish, while SRH finds itself at the bottom with only 9 points from the same number of games.
