Jemimah Rodrigues' Stellar Performance

Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues received immense praise for her outstanding performance in the semifinal of the Women’s World Cup 2025 against Australia, held at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium in Navi Mumbai on October 30.


Rodrigues scored an impressive 127 runs off 134 balls, leading India to successfully chase down a daunting target of 339 runs set by Australia. This remarkable achievement marked a historic moment in Women’s ODI cricket, securing India's place in the final against South Africa.


Her exceptional innings was crucial as she maintained composure under pressure, showcasing her maturity and skill, ultimately propelling the Women in Blue into the championship match.

Team India fulfilled their aspiration of winning their first Women’s World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final, concluding a remarkable journey in Navi Mumbai.


Jemimah Rodrigues' Social Media Challenge

Following her match-winning performance against Australia, Jemimah Rodrigues found it necessary to delete WhatsApp due to an overwhelming influx of messages and calls that disrupted her concentration ahead of the final.


In an interview, she disclosed that she received approximately '1000' messages after the semifinal victory, prompting her to uninstall the app to maintain her focus on the upcoming final.


She expressed, 'I don't know how random people started getting my number. I'm not even over-exaggerating, but I had 1000 WhatsApp messages. I couldn't take it because, firstly, a lot had happened in that game.'


Jemimah emphasized the importance of staying focused, stating, 'Yes, we won. Yes, India was in the final. But, we still had a World Cup final to win.'


Return to Social Media Post-Final

After India clinched their first World Cup title against South Africa, Jemimah Rodrigues reinstalled WhatsApp and returned to social media. Before deleting the app, she informed a few close contacts about alternative ways to reach her.


'Even if I was not reading the message, it was just buzzing. I just wanted to prepare for the finals. So, till the finals, I didn't install WhatsApp,' she explained.


Post-World Cup, she began to engage with social media again, noting, 'After the World Cup is when I properly saw social media. I have never seen such a sight.'


In her debut Women’s World Cup, Jemimah had an impressive run, scoring 292 runs, including a century and a fifty, with an average of 58.40 across 8 matches.
