Strengthening Cricket Connections in Mumbai

Dubai [UAE], April 9: On Tuesday, Jay Shah, the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), had a significant meeting with Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, in Mumbai. Present at the meeting were India's Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, along with players Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.


These athletes are currently representing the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.


Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm about the meeting, highlighting cricket's role in fostering global unity. He shared on X, “It was a pleasure to connect cricket with visionary leadership in Mumbai. Meeting His Highness @HamdanMohammed alongside @ImRo45, @hardikpandya7, and @surya_14kumar was a true honor. These moments exemplify cricket's unifying power worldwide.”


Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of the UAE, is on a two-day official visit to India, which began on April 8. This marks his first official trip to India as the Crown Prince of Dubai, accompanied by several ministers, senior officials, and a high-profile business delegation.


During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a working lunch for the Crown Prince. Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.


While in Mumbai, he took part in a business roundtable with leading business figures from both nations, enhancing economic and commercial ties between India and the UAE across various sectors.
