Bumrah's Hilarious Press Conference Moment

During a press conference following the second day's play in the third Test against England at Lord's, Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah brought laughter when a reporter's phone rang. Responding to the interruption, he humorously remarked, 'Somebody's wife is calling. But I will not pick it up.'

Bumrah led India's bowling attack under the intense London sun, achieving impressive figures of 5/74. He took crucial wickets, including those of Harry Brook, Joe Root, and captain Ben Stokes, helping to restrict England to a total of 387.

With his remarkable five-wicket haul, the 31-year-old Bumrah earned a place on the prestigious Lord's honours board. However, he values memories more than records. He reminisced about his experiences during India's 2021 tour of England.

In that second Test at Lord's, Bumrah had a challenging start, scoring a duck and failing to take a wicket in the first innings. Yet, he later formed a crucial 89-run partnership with Mohammed Shami, scoring 34 runs while Shami contributed 56 runs, leading India to a total of 298/8.

After setting the stage with their partnership, Bumrah showcased his bowling skills, taking three wickets for 33 runs, which contributed to England's defeat by 151 runs. Reflecting on that match, Bumrah stated, 'The most memorable test match for me was in England last time. When Shami Bhai and I won the match with the bat, obviously, I will remember those memories.'

He expressed pride in being on the honours board, saying, 'When my son grows up, I can tell him that my name is on the Honours Board.' He emphasized that while records are significant, the memories created during matches hold a special place in his heart.

Bumrah returned to the field after resting during the second Test as part of his workload management strategy. Despite various speculations regarding his fitness, he silenced critics with his outstanding performance at Lord's.

He stated, 'When I play for India, I want to contribute as much as I can, and when you can do it, you feel good that you have put the team in a good position.' Bumrah acknowledged that judgments are part of being a professional athlete, saying, 'As long as I wear this jersey, there will be judgments because every cricketer goes through that.'
